Melon jelly with Rose (sugar and gelatine free)

melon rose jelly agar

I remember my mom preparing strawberry jelly in the summer… We loved that so much!

It’s the easiest, most refreshing and light dessert… Or not? The premade jelly powder you can buy in the market contains 2-3 tablespoons refined sugar per serving and much more artificial pigments…

This is the basic recipe if you wish to replace the jelly powder. I chose to make the agar version, as we cannot find it easily, but you can also put gelatin, soaking it in the juice and adding the mixture in hot water.

Agar is a polysaccharide derived from marine algae, that could replace gelatin in a vegetarian diet.

Firstly, I would like to share this amazing melon-rose combo! Very fine flavors that can elevate each other…

Secondly because I love melon

  • Which is rich in complex B vitamins, helping our mental health
  • Rich in antioxidant vitamins A, C
  • And gives energy and hydration

Thirdly for the qualities of the most beautiful flower

  • With its antibacterial properties, it helps healing scars and wounds
  • With the antioxidant substances it contains, it delays the ageing of the skin
  • It acts as a natural anti-inflammatory
  • The aroma of the rose is sedative, reducing stress and creating a sense of serenity and wellbeing

We don’t want the juice to boil, because it gets a pretty bad taste, and loses several of the vitamins, so there’s no reason for that. It is better to boil the water, and combine them.
